FAQ – Protobox
Is Protobox really watertight for soaking dentures ?
Protobox is designed to limit leaks when dentures are soaked in water or in a suitable cleaning solution. It is recommended not to fill the box right up to the brim and to check that the lid is properly closed before transport. Under normal conditions of use, it provides secure soaking on a stable surface.
Which types of devices can be stored in Protobox ?
Protobox is suitable for most removable devices: full and partial dentures, bruxism splints, aligners, retention appliances and many removable orthodontic devices. You simply need to check that the device dimensions are compatible with the internal volume. For larger devices, it may be useful to test insertion on the model before handing over to the patient.
How should Protobox be presented and handed over to the patient ?
In routine use, the denture is delivered to the patient already placed inside Protobox, with the mirror clean and ready for use. The clinician explains how to open and close the box, how to fill the bottom for soaking and how to use the mirror for insertion over a washbasin. A written reminder of care instructions improves compliance and reduces day-to-day handling errors.
Are there any specific maintenance precautions for Protobox ?
Protobox is cleaned with lukewarm water and a mild, non-abrasive soap, then rinsed thoroughly. Aggressive products or solvents that may damage the plastic or mirror should be avoided. After rinsing, the box should be dried and stored open or slightly ajar to limit condensation. In the event of significant scratching or deformation, it is advisable to replace it.
