Molloplast B – Permanent soft relining material, heat-curing silicone

Brand: Detax SKU: H102691

Price incl. VAT: €109.95

Molloplast B is a heat-curing, one-component silicone designed as a permanent soft relining material for dentures made from (meth)acrylate-based denture acrylics. It provides a shock-absorbing, elastic and comfortable interface with the oral mucosa, particularly suitable for patients with thin ridges, sharply contoured alveolar processes or sensitive soft tissues.

  • Long-term comfort for sensitive mucosa and thin, sharp-ridged alveolar processes.
  • Excellent chemical bonding to (meth)acrylate denture base resins (with suitable adhesive).
  • Resistant in the oral environment with reduced plaque retention thanks to a smooth surface.
  • Can be polymerized in a water bath at 100 °C / 2 h or in a microwave flask (approx. 10 min / 850 W, suitable flasks only).

For use by dental professionals only (dental laboratories and dental practices).

Permanent soft relining for acrylic dentures

Molloplast B converts a rigid denture base into a soft, cushioning and tissue-friendly interface. The heat-curing silicone formulation ensures permanent softness and resilience, while the smooth, non-porous surface helps to limit plaque accumulation and facilitates routine cleaning of the denture.

Molloplast B – Indications & laboratory applications

Molloplast B is indicated for:

  • Permanent soft relining of complete and partial dentures made from (meth)acrylate denture base resins.
  • Relining of existing dentures in cases of pronounced ridge resorption or sharply contoured alveolar ridges.
  • Patients with thin, atrophic or pressure-sensitive mucosa requiring a cushioning denture base.
  • Relief of localized pressure areas such as the mylohyoid line, mental foramen, palatal suture, tuberosities and retromolar pads.
  • Special indications such as obturator prostheses, protective linings and localized soft liners in problem areas.

The material is intended for professional use in dental laboratories or dental practices equipped for flask processing and heat-curing techniques.

Molloplast B – Laboratory instructions for use (Simplified)

1. Denture preparation

Thoroughly clean, disinfect, degrease and prepare the acrylic denture base (new or existing). Remove any old soft liner or reline material completely. Roughen the surface according to the manufacturer’s instructions, then apply the Detax-recommended adhesive/primer to all areas to be relined and allow it to dry completely (approx. 60–90 minutes) before packing the flask.

2. Flasking & application

Place the denture in a properly insulated flask using a suitable investment material. After the adhesive has dried, evenly load all relining areas with Molloplast B. Close the flask under adequate pressure to avoid air entrapment and to express excess material. Remove the excess material from the borders before polymerization.

3. Polymerization

Polymerize strictly in accordance with the Detax instructions for use. Typical parameters:

  • Water bath: 100 °C for approx. 2 hours in a suitable metal flask.
  • Microwave: approx. 10 minutes at 850 W using a microwave-compatible flask (no metal parts).

Ensure controlled and homogeneous heating. At the end of the cycle, allow the flask to cool slowly and completely to room temperature before opening in order to minimize internal stresses and prevent deformation of the denture base.

4. Finishing & polishing

After deflasking, finish the acrylic parts using conventional instruments. For Molloplast B surfaces, use burs and polishers specifically designed for soft silicones, with light pressure and adequate cooling to avoid overheating and debonding. Mechanical high-gloss polishing of the silicone is limited; if a higher surface gloss is desired, use a suitable surface conditioner or polish recommended by the manufacturer. Aim for a smooth, homogeneous surface for optimum patient comfort and hygiene.

Always refer to the official Detax Instructions for Use for precise parameters, contraindications, safety information and detailed processing guidelines.

A few best practices to optimize your permanent soft relines with Molloplast B:

Thorough surface preparation Respect primer drying time (60–90 min) Controlled, progressive heat-curing Slow, complete cooling in the flask Dedicated finishing tools for silicones

For repair or secondary relining of an existing Molloplast layer, remove approximately 1 mm of the old material, prepare the surface again, re-apply the adhesive and proceed with packing and polymerization according to the Detax instructions. This maintains optimal bonding between the new and existing silicone layers.

FAQ – Molloplast B Detax

What is the main indication for Molloplast B?

Molloplast B is designed as a permanent soft relining material for complete and partial dentures made from (meth)acrylate denture base resins.

  • It is particularly useful in cases of thin mucosa, sharply contoured ridges or localized pressure areas where a cushioning denture base is required.
Does Molloplast B remain soft over time?

Yes. Unlike temporary soft reline materials, Molloplast B is a permanent soft silicone liner.

  • When processed strictly according to the Detax instructions (surface preparation, adhesive, polymerization and finishing), it maintains its softness and cushioning properties over an extended period.
On which denture base materials can it be used?

The material is intended for conventional denture base resins based on (meth)acrylate.

  • It can be used on both newly fabricated dentures and existing dentures that require relining, provided that the surface is properly cleaned, roughened and primed with the recommended adhesive.
Is it essential to use an adhesive/primer?

Yes. The use of the Detax adhesive/primer is critical to ensure a durable chemical bond between Molloplast B and the acrylic denture base.

  • Failure to use the adhesive, or not observing the specified drying time, may result in loss of bond strength, marginal leakage or partial debonding.
Can an existing Molloplast B reline be repaired or extended?

Yes, repairs and secondary relines are possible on an existing Molloplast B lining.

  • In practice, a thin layer (approx. 1 mm) of the old material is removed, the surface is re-prepared and primed, and fresh material is applied and polymerized following the standard flasking protocol.
