Modralit® 3K by Dreve is a model material based on polyurethane resin, developed for producing high-precision dental models, especially for implantology, combined prosthetics and demanding CAD/CAM dental workflows.

Thanks to its very low linear expansion, high dimensional stability and greater mechanical strength than conventional dental stone, this system enables the production of highly reliable implant dies with sharp margins and excellent long-term stability.

In modern implant prosthetics workflows, model accuracy directly influences the final fit of frameworks, superstructures and prosthetic restorations. Dental stone materials can sometimes show limitations in strength, die wear resistance or dimensional stability during repeated handling.

Modralit® 3K provides an advanced technical alternative thanks to its reinforced polyurethane structure, allowing dental laboratories to produce particularly stable, resistant and accurate models. Handling and laboratory recommendations

The Modralit® 3K system is based on a 3-component mixture including the base, catalyst and filler.

Mix the components according to the manufacturer’s instructions to obtain a perfectly homogeneous material.

Pour the material slowly into the impression or matrix to limit air inclusions, ideally on a vibrator with reduced vibration.

Allow a full polymerisation time of approximately 2 hours before demoulding or cutting.

Once cured, the models can be adjusted, prepared and coated with die spacer according to standard laboratory procedures.

Why use a polyurethane resin rather than dental stone?

Polyurethane materials such as Modralit® 3K provide much higher mechanical strength than traditional dental stones.

The dies are less sensitive to wear, chipping and micro-fractures during repeated adjustments. This improves the overall precision of implant work and reduces the risk of deformation.

FAQ — Modralit® 3K

Why use Modralit® 3K for implant models?
Modralit® 3K has very low expansion and excellent dimensional stability, which is essential for precision implant work.
The fit of superstructures and implant bars is therefore more reliable than with conventional materials.
IMPORTANT: it is recommended to create a wax boxing around the impression before pouring.
Is the material stronger than traditional dental stone?
Yes. The polyurethane structure of Modralit® 3K provides significantly higher mechanical strength than many dental stones.
The dies are less fragile and better withstand repeated laboratory handling.
How many models can be produced with one kit?
One kit can produce approximately 10 full models, depending on the volume of the cases.
The yield may vary depending on the type of arch or the number of dies produced.
Is Modralit® 3K compatible with die spacers?
Yes. Dies made with Modralit® 3K can be coated with standard die spacer, as with conventional models.
The dense and stable surface allows regular application of spacer varnishes.
What polymerisation time is recommended?
The full setting time is approximately 2 hours.
It is recommended to wait for complete polymerisation before demoulding, cutting with a die saw disc or making adjustments, in order to obtain optimal mechanical strength.
